In commemorating nearly a decade of the PT “Personal Transportation” Cruiser’s timeless design, the new Chrysler PT Cruiser Classic embodies the romance of American automotive heritage, styling and versatility that made PT Cruiser an instant hit.Chrysler PT Cruiser Classic’s unique fenders, roofline and high belt-line proportions recall 1930s and 1940s hot-rod styling — while chrome body-side moldings, door handles, 16-inch wheels and grille highlight PT Cruiser Classic’s high level of detail and style.
Originally slated to be discontinued for model-year 2010, Chrysler is continuing production of this compact wagon for at least another year. PT Cruiser is a 5-passenger, 4-door wagon that now comes in a single, Base trim level. The Touring and Limited have been discontinued. The sole powertrain teams a 150-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, and front-side airbags. A sunroof is optional. Also optional is a package that includes heated front seats, power driver seat, and fold-flat front-passenger seat. A newly optional Couture Edition Pacakge includes those features plus leather upholstery and unique interior and exterior trim.
Inside the new Chrysler PT Cruiser Classic continues to lead the small-car segment with its combination of style, craftsmanship and flexibility. Chrome rings highlight the Bright Silver Metallic instrument panel’s three gauges, rotating air vents and Chrysler signature analog clock. A retro proportioned leather-wrapped steering wheel features four spokes with Satin Silver accents and a small center airbag cover for easy viewing of the large gauges. A Satin Silver center stack features conveniently placed climate controls and radio with MP3 input jack, while the center console features a sliding armrest with covered storage.
The PT Cruiser Classic features 32 front- and rear-seat configurations to accommodate any cargo need quickly and conveniently. Command-of-the-road five-passenger seating provides chair-height seating comfort with an elevated second-row for improved visibility and passenger legroom. An available fold-flat front-passenger seat accommodates longer items, such as a ladder or snowboard. PT Cruiser Classic’s 50/50 split-fold rear seats fold-and-tumble to offer quick access for additional room and can be completely removed for up to 62.7 cu. ft. (1.78 cu. m) of cargo space. The tailgate also features a five position shelf panel for additional interior flexibility and utility.
The 2.4 liter inline engine comes with four valves per cylinder and overhead cam. The bore, compression ratio and stroke of the engine will be 87.5 mm, 9.5 and 101 mm respectively. The power from the engine will be 112 kilo watts at the rate of 5,200 rotations per minute and torque will be 164 lb ft at the rate of 4000 rotations per minute. The average fuel economy of the next generation compact car is expected to be 20 miles per gallon. The maximum speed of the 2010 PT Cruiser is expected to be more than 65 miles per hour. Coming to the all new 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche, it gets new styling cues, and several upgrades.
